Poydras Home appreciates the large role dining plays in enjoying life in New Orleans. We understand dining’s importance in allowing our residents to continue the lifestyle they love. Our executive chef consults with a registered dietician to develop seasonal menus, accommodating all medical modalities, with resident input, that include a featured hot entrée and up to 13 additional menu choices. Resident guests are always accommodated for meals throughout Poydras Home’s campus.
Garden House Independent Living has their own dining room located on the first floor of their building. Dinner is provided to our Independent Living residents as an amenity to augment their fully equipped apartment kitchens. Garden House residents are also invited to purchase breakfast or lunch in our assisted living dining room, if they wish, as an added convenience. Oak House Assisted Living residents enjoy a dedicated dining space known as the Lallande Dining Room named after our benefactor, Julien Lallande Poydras. Meals are served at a range of times, allowing residents to dine earlier or later as their preferences dictate. Our specialized Assisted Living Memory Care area known as Seasons at Oak House features a family-style dining space. All residents are served restaurant style from an open concept kitchen. Extra care is taken to orient new members of our community by inviting them to join in the open seating dining experience with our welcoming residents. Our Nursing Care residents dine within their own Green Home spaces. Poydras Home residents also enjoy the regular opportunity to eat out, enjoying transportation and group reservations at restaurants of their choice, including five star establishments, especially during the holiday season.
